Developing a line of high-end tube microphones Oktava sets a goal to create a capsule, similar to the best classical models. The new Oktava MKL-112 was specially developed for this double-seded new capsule with a monolithic electrode.
The new microphone allows to change a polar pattern on the power supply. So it is possible to choose between three patterns: omnidirectional, cardioid and Fig-8.
All electronics is mounted inside a heavy brass body, which eliminates a possibility of internal resonances. The preamp schematic is based on classic Russian tube. High-quality transformer provides minimal distortion and a high overload capability.
Especially with voice and vocal recordings, the MKL-112 reveals a very pleasant, warm but direct and honest sound.
Plenty of volume in the low-end range, but also the silky-soft high frequencies are convincing when it comes to acoustic guitar recording. In the middle area of the frequency spectrum, especially in the attack area of the steel strings, this microphone has a very good figure.
